Welcome to Mindful PE

I am so glad you are here.

I have been an elementary classroom teacher for the last fifteen years, mainly in third grade. I blogged for years about my experience at 3rd Grade Thoughts and loved every second I was in the classroom.

A few years back, after my divorce, I began the long journey back to myself-- for my young daughter's health and my own. I began working with mindfulness and gratitude, I went back to my yoga practice that has always been my saving grace, and I began to see wellness as an integral part of my well-being.

Then, this past year, I was moved to fifth grade because of declining enrollment. A month into school, I came down with a terrible kidney disease that kept me out of the classroom most of September and October. I knew that I had let my health slip with the stress of moving classes and that I needed a change in my life... only I did not want to leave my school or the opportunity to work with kids every day.

Along came several wonderful opportunities: a Yoga Teacher Training I could complete locally on weekends, an online Children's and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher Training I could complete online, and an opening in our school's PE position next year, for which I was already certified.

Thankfully, with the help of my supportive principal and a school year's worth of hard work, I am finishing up both of my Yoga Teacher Trainings and was given the PE assignment for the 2020-2021 school year!

I plan on maintaining this blog as a destination for everyone-- PE teachers, classroom teachers looking for movement and mindfulness activities to incorporate throughout the day, and moms, dads, and caregivers for your own children and your own personal self-care.

Thank you for joining me in this journey and I look forward to getting to know one another!

Stay well,
